Heart Notes: Something about summer ...
There is something about summer
that puts me in a contemplative mood. I spend more time daydreaming and thinking about life. Does it affect you this way as well?

I taught a Journaling for Design and Creativity workshop this past weekend to a group of fibre artists who are touring the Maritimes. Among other things, I introduced the topic of tapping into the body feeling, and the discussion got me thinking about the next steps. Next steps in not only recognizing how our body feels, but starting to understand what our body is saying for example, when it produces symptoms.

I've written a new, possibly controversial blog post Body listening about these next steps and how to listen to our body on a deeper level. How to understand (but not judge) and grow from the physical symptoms our body produces. I'd love to hear what you think about this topic.

Wearable art pop-up this Friday!
This Friday I'm thrilled to be doing a pop-up at Forage Boutique in Truro, Nova Scotia. I will be featuring my new wearable art clothing line, as well as a selection of my art, notecards and books. The owner Jen has a beautiful shop and I love her clothing!. She specializes in merino wool, bamboo and linen clothing, much of which she makes herself. If you've seen me lately I've probably been wearing at least two of her layers. My wearable art clothing complements Jen's designs perfectly.

I hope if you are in the neighbourhood you will pop by to say hello! See the calendar below for details. And if you can't be in the neighbourhood, here's the link to order online. Have a look and let me know what you think!

I love that Jenna says you can make life work for you and "you have the ability to turn adversity into opportunity". Join us for this renegade conversation as we explore the surprising life events that led Jenna on her journey to becoming a renegade. Season Three, Episode 14 of Renegade Conversations. Artwork in Progress

I've begun preparations for my Chakra Colours by Design class at TIGHR (see calendar above). I'm spinning yarns that will be dyed in the 8 chakra colours, drawing patterns and making Chakra Colour Pin kits.

I'm also finishing up and mounting several new pieces, two of which are destined for a show in July.

If you would like to own one of my fibre art creations, take a look at my gallery or contact me. Custom designs also available.
Extravagant (detail)
Part of the process of mounting two new Renegade Series on artist canvas. The artwork will be tacked onto the canvas (so that it doesn't sag) and then the back will be covered with a backing (cotton broadcloth over bristol board), a label applied and D-rings and picture wire attached.
Mixed media (wet felting, rug hooking and applique) 12" x 12". Created by Meryl Cook.
