Heart Notes: Hearts connecting
February is Heart month at Heart Notes,
but not in the usual sense of romantic love and the commercialization of this concept. Instead, in February in our Creating Space community, and in my journal writing I am taking time to focus on compassion towards myself and others. I'm exploring ideas about unconditional love, creating space for love and self compassion, and self kindness as something that goes well beyond our usual ideas of self care. In this blog post Hearts Connecting I share a simple suggestion for opening our hearts and the effect it can have on us. Let me know what you think by hitting reply.

The words for the year keep coming! I received more inspiring words in response to my last Heart Notes. If you haven't chosen a word for this year it's not too late. And be sure to let me know your word by replying to this email. You can read Can I Have a Word with You? to see the two words that underlie my word for this year.

Artwork in Progress

Here is one of the samples I've made in Fiona Duthie's Surface Design in Feltmaking class. It is done using painters masking tape to create a resist, then opening up the layers to create a tiled effect. Lots of possibilities for future projects!

I took  Jean Haley's Winter Hat Hook Along and a photo of my hat is above. I hooked the band with all sorts of grey fabric and yarns - mostly recycled and my hand spun. The top is a recycled boiled wool jacket and a button from an old sweater. It is lined with fabric from a velvet skirt that no longer fits. It was a lot of fun. We even had a hat parade! I highly recommend this class, so be sure to get on the wait list for the next time Jean offers it.

If you would like to own one of my fibre art creations, take a look at my gallery or contact me. Custom designs also available.
